Irregular periods / breakthrough bleeding on Mirena coil, is it because I have had it for 4 years?

Have gone from barely noticeable periods to bit of back achey pain, with fresh red bleeding and more frequent periods. had one barely 3 weeks ago, and come on again today.

coil has been in situ for 4 years, so not due to be replaced, but just wondered if this was normal or if a trip to the doc is in order?

thanks x

The mirena coil usually lasts for 5 years, but everyone is different, so what may last 5 years in one person may only last 4 in another.

I think you need to see your doc, they made decide it is time to change your mirena.

Hope this helps.
