Oh, that doesn't sound typically like FM (though I'm not a medical proffessional). The chest pain sounds worrying.

In me it manifests as joint pain and fatigue with occassional breathing problems.

im having a hard time beliveving that its just anxiety causing me this pain

Have you tried a different GP or even switched practices?
It seems like anxiety is a catch all these days when they can't work out what's wrong especially if you don't feel anxious.

candyfluff · 19/05/2009 17:23

ive been to nearly all the gp's at my practice
ive had blood tests
the only one that came back a little wrong was the liver enzymes were raised
have another test for it in june

I have FM and i get stabby chest pains a lot but then again i have had several dangerous clots in my lungs in the past so the gp doesn't know if my chest pains are due to damage dome then or due to the FM.

My symptoms are,

Tiredness
Pains (in various places)
Sore skin
Sensitive hearing
Low immune system (ctahc everyhting going)

candyfluff · 19/05/2009 17:28

how did you get the gp to test you ?
ive had so many illness's since the start of the year i take good care of myself ,take vitamins ,drink loads of water ,walk everywhere ,eat well
im at a loss as to what else i can do
its so hard when your gp thinks your a hypochondriac

I don't think there is a blood test for FM which is the same for CFS/ME, I think diagnosis is through elimation of all other possible causes and certain tender/aching points on the body. Google FM and tender points.

popsycal · 20/05/2009 19:05

i have it
doesnt sound like my version of it aat all

Saltire · 20/05/2009 19:21

I have FM, and I don't get chest pain. I got my diagnosis from a Rheumatologist. She touched x amount(think it was 18) tender points on my body - places such as back of knee, neck etc. In a fit and healthy person they shouldn't feel pain. I had pain in all the tender points. SO that coupled with my symptoms of

Widespread muscle pain
fatigue
Migraines
Eye problems
IBS
memory and concetration problems. I have a mild version of the pain pretty much 99% of the time, and I also get very bad flare ups of the pain, so if you can imagine the worst pain you've ever had - well thats my constant pain, then double it and that's a flare up - I have a walking stick and wrist supports for when it gets bad. I don't (with the exception of the fatigue) have the other symptoms all the time, they tend to appear during a flare up.
