Very briefly.....

We went away for a few days at easter and after a energetic horizontal love session, i had really uncomfortable cramping the next 2 days, followed by some light bleeding.
As far as I can remember and work out, i also stopped getting the 'urge' to go for a poo at this time.

My stomach is about the size of beach ball, I havent done a 'proper' poo for weeks.
I go the gym, Im drinking prune juice, pineapple juice, cereals, at least 3 pieces of fruit a day and always veg or salad with dinner. I drink a minimum of 1 1/2 litres of water a day and have been taking 2 senna tablets everynight for 2 weeks.
My poo's arent hard, they just wont come out (sorry TmI )
Im so uncomfortable, sick, in pain and groggy and I dont know what to do next.
Could it be anything to do with the sex? How can I possibly be constipated after all the fruit/cereal/water etc thats getting pumped into my body!?

Im hoping someone will conme along this morning.... taken another 2 senna last night, did some stomach massage last night and again this morning.... nothing

What would cause constipation like this?

I have no idea what could have caused it, although it does seem unlikely that it was the sex.
But after many years of experience with constipation (with dd) I'd get yourself to the GP and ask for an enema, or at the very least something stronger than senna. Movicol maybe?
If you've been constipated for so long, it's going to very soon start to make you very ill (speaking from experience!)

I would talk to the pharmacist about a stronger laxative, if that does work I'd go to the GP.

the other thing you could try is a glycerin suppository - available quite cheap from Boots - pop it in, wait as long as you can (try a warm bath) and it may well lubricate things enough for you to release the blockage. You normally get the urge to "go" witin 15 - 30 mins.

I agree though - it it has been going on this long, you need to see a GP, I was in agony after only ten days, so am amazed you have lasted this long !

Thanks for your messages, sorry, ive been at work.

Im not in pain, as in constipation pains, just have lower back pain, very very swollen and bloated.

I have been constipated before, many many years ago and the pains I had were like low, sharp period pains. Its all very strange.

The only other time I have had a little bit of bother was when I was pregnant, the very early stages. I have had 2 years of fertility treatment and a period since it all started though, so i know its not that. I wish I knew what the problem was....i dont understand how I could be constipated when doing all that Ive been doing.

I feel very emotional about feeling so rubbish...very tired and emotional.

First off, i doubt you are constipated if the poo is soft. Secondly i would try eating a chinese meal, something a bit fatty and soft like a chow mein (sounds mad i know but it worked for me, sometimes you can eat to much healthy stuff and it works the other way, a bit of fat seems to 'lube' the bowel) Deffo see the doc if that doesnt work.

go to an osteopath - I was watching Embarrassing Bodies last night and a woman on there had this problem where she couldn't go for weeks - the expert said it could be something to do with spasms in the pelvic floor keeping everything too tight and stopping your natural urges from functioning.

You might have put something out in your low back during your sesh, which has affected the nerves to the rectum and anus and sphincter there. An osteo (or chiro) could probably fix you up in one session.

Nixz · 14/05/2009 18:09

Loopylou.... have done that...and a curry and a spicey spicey pizza!!!!

Thumbwitch...funnily enough, about the same time as 'the sesh' I weirdly developed sciatica in my lower back and my bum.

I was wondering if it could be something to do with that?!

hi Nixz - I have spoken to my osteopath today about this, and although it isn't something he has ever come across before, he is pretty sure it can be treated by osteopathy.
What you have just posted about the sciatica makes even more sense - sounds like your sesh might have been fairly energetic and this could have caused a minor displacement of the pelvis - you'll have to get your DH to be more gentle with you in future!

Seriously though, I would definitely give it a go - if you have shifted something, it's best fixed quickly - the longer you leave it, the more likely it is to "set" and cause longer-term problems, even if you resolve the current pooing issue in other ways.

Go and see a docotr now! No one on here kniws what it is we are all guessing. If you have not been for weeks you must feel awful and it needs sorting. The movicol will work if it is just constipation but it could be anything. Go to the doctor.

thumbwitch · 16/05/2009 12:43

how are you now Nixz? Have things resolved?
