Mirena out...copper coil in...maybe???

I currently have the Mirena coil in and have had it in for about 16 months. It has gave me nothing but problem after problem, from constant bleeding for 15-20 days out of the month and it has demolished my libido.
I have left it in so long because i know a few people who have the Mirena also and they have found it works great for them and my family planning doctor kept telling me to just give it another couple of months over and over again.
Im sick to death of it now and am having it out as soon as i can find a good alternative!

My GP has suggested that i try the copper coil as she feels i may just be sensitive to artificial hormones.
I've tried several pill types which usually turn me into either an emotional train wreck or a psychopath and I'm forgetful so its not that reliable for me, I've also tried the implant which like the Mirena just caused none stop bleeding.
I'm aware the copper coil can cause heavier periods but i would rather have that than average flow periods that last forever!

ANY advice about the copper coil and your general experiences of it would be great in helping me make my decision.
I havn't had children yet, do you think this could make a difference as to how the copper coil will effect my periods?

Sorry to rant on I'm just so sick of trying different contraceptives and none of them suiting me, i want to be as well informed about my next choice as i possibly can.
Men dont know they were born!Pffffft!

I had the copper coil pre dc - it was fine for me although it did make my periods heavier - although no hormoney side effects which was great - I'd definitely recommend it.

I've had my mirena coil since last July and since that date there have only been about 2 weeks in total where I haven't bled..........I experienced exactly the same side effects as you, but with the added bonus of weight gain and boils!! Have just had the coil removed this afternoon as I would rather have really heavy periods just once a month rather than one ongoing period at all times!! Am not sure what to expect now....
