swine flu yes i know another one but genuine concerns not panic

swine flu has been found not far from me ,Dd has a severly comprmised immune system and flu of any kind is extremley dangerous , not sure how best to handle wheather if it gets neare to keep her from school or cross everything and pray shes 6 year 1

I'm not a medic but I would say don't panic.

First of all, there is likely to be flu all the time around you, you just don't get to hear about it. So in terms of bog-standard flu risk you are probably not at any increased risk.

Secondly there is some suggestion that because the current strain is manifesting in a very mild way, it may actually be better to get it now, and build up an immunity to it, so that if it mutates to a more serious strain in the winter then you will already have some immunity.

Finally re: your specific concerns about your DD's immune system, I would speak to your doctor and get his advice. If he feels the risk is serious enough and (for eg) there is a case at her school then he might be able to prescribe AVs.
