If you're worried then maybe. Why don't you phone the GP and ask? I'm suggesting the GP as NHS Direct won't know your DD's circumstances. Share the load... What does DP/H think?

Phoenix4725 · 11/05/2009 10:10

not got a dp/dh so all falls down on my descions ,might give her paed arng , knowwhen chickenpoxs wasin school she had antivirals to take but still got and ended up in hospital

I think you can take tamiflu prophylactically

I would call the surgery

Phoenix4725 · 11/05/2009 10:19

just waiting on call back from paed , not worried as such as in omg panic but just trying to take sensiable precautions for dd

theyoungvister

sadly in dd case she does not build up immunity to anything hence chickenpoxs 8 times and very poorly everytime she takes a prohylatic antibiotic already

CountessDracula · 11/05/2009 10:27

yy but that won't help with flu
It is a virus not a bacterial infection

Phoenix4725 · 11/05/2009 10:38

Thank you and thanks forrealising this was not a omg panic things if not for dd imunne system would not be paticulary worried

yep and just spoke topaed she was on sectarys list of patients to be called he alreadyphones my gpnad prescribed tamiflu as prophylatic and we have decided that if any more cases come tolight locally to then pull her from school but he feelsthat goodidea to pull her fromany of her clubs just tolimit exposure woud be samefor any serious bugs going round

I do understand - I take immunosuppressants and have similar concerns (though my blood tests are good and I don't think my immune system is too compromised)

cherrymonster · 11/05/2009 11:05

the current warnings are that this strain is most dangerous to fit, healthy adults between the ages of 20 and 40.

Phoenix4725 · 11/05/2009 11:07

yeah but even acoldcan have serious consequences for dd

Sounds like you reacted responsibly and have a plan - hope you feel better about things soon
