bleeding between periods, low libido, period like pain...

i have had a colposcopy, a biopsy and now just had my scans. they still aren't showing anything up. (i have HPV virus, biopsy showed, but that shouldn't cause it)
i have bleeding between periods, i think specifically the day after sex. i often have vaginal soreness, and sometimes a heavy discharge. i have a weighty feeling low down in my pelvis and sometimes almost a tingling sensation like the beginning of a urinary infection.
any ideas? its adding to a general malaise about my sex life/love life and also making me feel worried.

Could be a few things, I think.

You could try posting your question on here where a gynaecologist can answer it, and there is a lot of information on all sorts of conditions.

The only thing I know anything about is endometriosis, and it could be that, but would need to know more - do you have difficult periods (or have you had in the past)? Do you have bowel problems as well - irritable bowel or similar?

Try looking atwww.endometriosis.org, just in case.

Sorry not to be more helpful - maybe someone else will come along who will be more useful.
Good luck.

things like endometriosis can't be diagnosed for sure until you've had a scope thingy (via your belly button area). sorry Im crap at all the medical terminology... but I'm pretty sure the extent of it cannot be determined until you've had this exploratory procedure. It might be time to ask about and push for this? I'm sure someone will say what it's actually called... (lap and dye? Laporoscopy? That's one of the things I had when I was ttc and it unearthed some endo at the back of my womb)

you may need a laparoscopy and should be checked for pelvic inflammatory disease. have you been checked for fibroids etc?

do you have very heavy periods?

blinks · 10/05/2009 22:25

your symptoms are classic PID by the way.

MaeBee · 11/05/2009 20:08

thanks everyone!
i asked one of the many Dr's i have seen over this if it was PID, and she said that was very unlikely cos i wasn't in enough pain. but maybe i'll get a second opinion on that.
some of my periods have got very heavy since having my boy nearly 3 years ago.
i don't like the sound of a laparoscopy!! but then i guess i'd be asleep for it? god, they never told me what childbirth could do to you! i had a years trouble with an anal fissure after childbirth and then as soon as my periods came back this starts.
i was wondering if it could be a hormone imbalance but i have no idea how that gets checked?

do you think it could be a thyroid problem? and the pain is actually irritated bowel stuff?
have just read about thyroid and wondering...
