Mirena coil - quick question to see if I need to see the Dr

Have been searching all the threads on the Mirena coil and can't find an answer to my question - sorry to start another thread on this!

I have had ongoing problems with the coil since insertion in October, but they settled down for the last 2 months. Now I have had a very heavy period and really crippling cramps suddenly this weekend. Is the coil still settling in, or should I go back to the Dr because of the cramps?

Def go back to your doc. Happened to me and cramping got like contraction pain and when I saw gp she told me it had shifted and I was lucky I hadn't got pregnant!
She removed it and a couple of weeks later I had a new one fitted and it's been great ever since -no problems at all.

good luck

Oh no - was hoping to be told it was not a problem, but am sitting here doubled up with pain. Thanks for the reply!

If it's causing you that much pain this long after having it fitted, something's definitely not right. The reason I replied so quickly is because I got fobbed off when I phoned my old gp (I moved house a few months after having first one fitted) to say about it really hurting and they said it's normal blah blah...now you might find that they check and it's just unfortunate that you're having this cramping and you may have to decide whether it's for you or not but I would almost bet money on the fact that it's maybe not in the right position because it sounds EXACTLY what I went through! I do sympathise - and hope you can see someone who knows about coiuls at your gp practice.
Post and let me know...
