If anyone is thinking whats and endo thingy. look hereI had never heard of it before!

I suffered very badly a while ago. It was so bad I couldnt leave the house for more than 30 minutes at a time. The hormone tablets seemed to make it worse. (wasn't offered anything else) Its better now but did take a few years.

msmac - seems like I'm at the start of all this, so I'm benefitting from your experience, but can't offer much help. Lots of sympathy though.

So far had scans to rule out fibroids and polyps and got a prescription for Mefenamic Acid. Not taken it yet as still Bfing and it isn't approved.

I hope you get some good advice and I will watch with interest.

Thanks all - helpful to read. I have prolapse, fibroids and heavy bleeding. Got a coil last JULY to help with bleeding (tubes are tied so didn't need for bc) but now bleeding every two weeks (Nightmare!) and v v heavy. TODAY MY COIL FELL OUT! attached to giant, thick clot, so guess it just pulled it out. Nightmare.

I am scared of Tranexamic Acid. I took it but it didn't help and they said I could double the dose, but just waiting for my hysterectomy now (I'm 43). Desperate to have it as anaemic and sick of bleeding! but now instead of 'early summer' it looks like Sept, thanks to one doc's mix-up with my urodynamics test.
NIGHTMARE! Who'd be a woman, eh?

cheshirekitty · 20/05/2009 17:24

Nellie, ask your doctor to get your blood checked for thyroid problems. This can cause weight gain and heavy periods.

NellieNervous · 20/05/2009 19:18

Tx Cheshire Kitty, but I think heavy periods are a) genetic and b) due to fibroids. My mother had hysterectomy age 43 due to heavy bleeding and fibroids and history is about to repeat (I'm 43).

And I have gained weight but more due to
a) giant uterus (size of 16-week pg lady, according to specialist at Guys Hospital - charming!)
b) feeling so tired due to blood loss

Thanks though. I will see how I get on without mirena then with hysterectomy. Cannot wait!!!!
x
nellie
