A bit of a shock

Ive been worried for about a month or so about, discomfort during intercourse, vaginal spotting and smell.
I did a google search today which suggested I might have lost a tampon. I examined myself and thought I had had found a lump in my vagina.
I went to the local community hospital and queued, really worried.
The doc was brilliant, very vigilant. After many questions and an internal, she found my mirena coil had come out through my cervix.
She did a pregnancy test and gave me an emergency contraceptive.
Im not pregnant and have taken the pill. I am so glad I am not pg.
But still I feel really upset, it feels like I went from possible cancer to a pregnacy I dont want in one fell swoop.

So sorry to hear this. I had a similar experience, and it's a real shock. I had really heavy bleeding whilst on the mirena, and when the doctor finally sorted it out it turned out I had been pregnant but had now miscarried. So I went from pregnant (unknowingly and unplanned) to no longer pregnant in three hours. Really unsettling and upsetting.

Incidentally I had real problems with mirenas fitted by the GP - they both came out of their own accord. Eventually I had one put in under general anaesthetic and this one seems (fingers crossed) to have stayed put!

At least you've had a positive outcome in that you haven't got a horrible disease, but it is upsetting, I know how you must be feeling.

Thanks

I think I overeacted a tad. Ive never been maternal. Had one unplanned pregnancy. Considered termination. Couldnt do it. Love DD now more than my life. But do not want another.
I had a Mirena fitted because it seemed reliable and safe. A friend of mine told me she had one for years with no problems.
Had mine fitted in late 07 and thought I could depend on it for years.
When yesterday the doctor told me it had come out, I lay there freaking out. She gave me a pregnancy test which was negative. Ive also had an emergency contraceptive pill, just incase.
