Memory and thinking not right after stay in hospital (HD) Is this normal?

I have been out of hospital for a few days after a 11 day stay ( mostly on O2 in HD) and now find my short term memory is not working properly and I forget and loose things. I am also exhausted, feel spaced out and am unsteady on my feet. Is this normal? Will it get better as I recover? Is it the high dose extended term prednisalone I'm on (it is 14 days since it started so the LT effects could just be beginning)? Or just the effects of being out of the world for a while? Work are expecting me back in a week (assuming there is not worse news to come - I am awaiting test results to get to the bottom of the trouble) but right now I cannot see me being fit enough to get to work never mind do the job.
Anyone else felt like this?

It's difficult to say without knowing the whole story, but i would think that it is something that will improve, but you may not be ready to go back to work for another week or even two.
The exhaustion is pretty normal, as it's so difficult to get any decent sleep in hospital (especially if you have an O2 mask strapped to your face for the duration) The unsteadyness can be put down to a couple of things - if you've been on bed rest for a while, it can distort your sense of balance when you eventually do get up and start moving about. You will also have lost muscle tone very quickly, so you will feel quite weak.
High dose steroids can cause all sorts of weird and wonderful side effects have a look here
so these may be contributing to how you are feeling.
I'd make an appointment to see your GP, just to get checked over, and tlak about how you're feeling. Hope you're back to full health soon

Thank you Stanausaurus, speaking to the Gp is a good idea. ( and yes it is hard to sleep with all the lines and pipes getting tangled if you move and all the bleepy machines and lights)
