torn stomach muscles before the baby was born!

Hi, I'm new here and hoping someone else has had the same problem and might be able to suggest a way forward for me.

I have a 13 month old now. At 37 weeks pregnant, I suffered a tear to my stomach muscles below my ribs on my right hand side. The midwife and doctors said this wasn't possible and that nothing could be done until after the baby was born. The pain was excruciating and was not relieved by paracetamol (midwife's helpful hint!), hot bath or changing positions. I'd torn other muscles before and recognised the pain but people kept telling me it wouldn't happen until the birth and that I must be mistaken.

Since having the baby, I've been having intermittent pain but not on the original scale. Have been having physio (where I have been told I was right!!) and having seen 3 now (as they keep rotating), none of them really know what to do with me. They say I have high tone acorss my body and agree that if that's the case, the combination of it, an 'out front' bump and the baby's foot in the way caused the muscle to tear.

I can live with the intermittent pain I get now, but my husband and I are starting to think about having another baby and I'm really worried about the muscle tearing again when it isn't properly mended. This would be especially problematic if I was still carrying our son around.

If anyone can make any suggestions, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
