My mum lives in France and is having cartilage surgery next Thursay (only had scan today ). She is having keyhole surgery with two incisions under general anaesthetic.

I thought it was normal to have a local anaesthetic, but maybe its different in France?

What can she expect recovery wise please?

DH has had knee surgery 3 times, all of them under general.

Recovery really depends on how much they have to do - last time all the other people having surgery were up and about without crutches a couple of hours after surgery, DH had most of his meniscal cartilage removed, and was on crutches for 5 weeks

Thanks for that. I don't think she is sure exactly what they are going to do due to the language barrier. Some of the cartilage has come away so this will be removed and she also has a bakers cyst to be dealt with.
