have had a feeling like theres a lump in my throat for ages, by the time i got to ent it had gone and when they looked at my throat there was nothing to see.
they said it was probably reflux and prescribed tablets.

thing is its back again now but this time it seems that when i eat its getting stuck in my throat so, im thinking that it is stuck food thats causing it
i also have an uncomfortable pain in the middle of my chest

Are you suffering from anxiety? Sounds like me when anxious.

I had this for ages which I took to be a sign of hyperthyroid (along with many other symptoms). But my tests showed clear for that. However GP gave me citaopram for anxiety and that helped. It could be anxiety. What other symptoms do you have?

Cheeryface.....my Mum had a oesophagal pouch- basically a wee pocket had formed in her foodpipe and stuff kept getting stuck....might it be something similar? She would also get worked up about eating and couldn't swallow tablets and things....sometimes stuff would go into the pouch and she would feel as if she was choking....
It might be worth asking your GP to refer you to an ENT specialist for a proper look?
My Mum had an op to close it up, and a side-benefit (she says) is her sinuses are much better too!

My mum had this feeling too, & has had tests etc done including a barium swallow so they could watch the progression of food & discovered that she has a hernia. They stuck food sensation is a result of the food travelling more slowly when she swallows because of it. I'm not sure of the details but might that be possible?

Globus Hystericus. Look it up.

mind you, it's a diagnosis of exclusion, so you'll prob need a camera down into your stomach to exclude anything else....
