Having coil inserted tomorrow - was told not to breastfeed for 2/3 hours before, what about directly afterwards?

The nurse said breastfeeding beforehand would soften the womb and could cause problems during the insertion, but I can't remember if she said it was ok to feed directly afterwards. Does it need any time to settle down? Think I dd can go a couple of hours, but not much longer than that (she doesn't take a bottle).

When I had this Mirena put in, I bf DS in the waiting room beforehand, and almost straightafterwards. The Dr didn't say anything about not bfing. And no problems with getting it in or afterwards

You can't really soften the womb as it is all muscle, so I'm not sure what the nurse was thinking about happening

In the leaflet she gave me it says:

Serious risks
Perforation of the wall of the womb (1 per 1000) - More likely after recent pregnancy especially when breastfeeding.

That's why they like to not insert until 12 weeks, but the bfing thing is to do with hormones and isn't temporary to a feed

Blimey, how strange that she'd say that then.

Thanks, saved me and dd a certain amount of distress there, and also MIL who would have been trying to distract a grumpy, hungry dd.
