I was told the blood would mean they cant see the cells properly. Sorry.

Hi - if you are only spotting, it may be ok if your GP surgery use the new Liquid based cytology method of taking smears. The nurse takes your smear with a little brush then rinses it off in the special fluid. When it's processed, any blood, mucus etc is washed off and just the cervical cells are left for analysis. I would go along to your appointment and chat with you Practice Nurse.

It's a real bummer isn't it? They say cheerily that you need to go along between days 10 and 16 and it's just not realistic. How many people have a 28 day cycle every single month? There must be so many women who have long periods (mine last about 9-10 days) and irregular - eg mine can be every 30 days like clockwork and then suddenly come after 27 or 35! Makes it very difficult when you need to book 3 weeks in advance for a smear - if you could at least book 2-3 days before you might have a chance of hitting that window/. At least last time I had a regular cycle and hit day 15 or something.

if you are on the pill, then you should have periods every 4weeks, tho cerazette which i was on for 2 yaers - i didnt have any - it seems to effect people in different ways
