Got up and went to the loo this morning at about 4am had a poo and all was fine.

Got up properly at 8ish and went to the loo had another very small poo no straining or anything wiped and there was loads of blood, looked in the loo and it was full of blood.

I've been to the loo 3 times since and each time loads of blood.

No pain in or around my bum and I'm not constipated just normal, if anything a bit softer than usual.

I also have really dull aching period type pains.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome. I've done the usual searches and would think nothing of it if it wasn't for the pains as well. Anything will help please.

Sorry if TMI

Could it be an internal pile that has burst?

I know this is a silly question, but is the blood definitely coming from your bottom and not your vagina?

JaquelinehydeAllTheEggs · 12/04/2009 16:43

100% bottom I double checked when wiping.

I also haven't had a period since Dec 07 because I have the implant in.

Never had piles before so not sure, would there be any other symptoms for piles?

No itching or anything else actually but the blood is bright red, so definately fresh.

How long should I expect it to last?

I'm pregnant and have bloody piles.

It's when I've gone to the loo and it's not as if I've strained or anything. I called my midwife in a blind panic and she said it was probably internal piles. You need to check how much blood, you say loads but how much is loads and is you bum bleeding in between poo's. Even the worst of mine has only lasted no more than 8 hours and only when I've gone to the loo.

Either way you should speak to your doctor, piles can go nasty I think.

greatwhiteshark · 12/04/2009 17:08

A little bit of blood can go a long way and look like masses, but I would go and see my GP if I were you.

ThingOne · 12/04/2009 20:23

I would go to your GP and have it checked asap.

fledtoscotland · 12/04/2009 20:32

is it bright red fresh blood?

if so its from low down (ie the rectum) so is more than likely a small tear called a fissure. they are difficult to heal so your GP may recommend putting vasaline on your bum before you poo to help the skin stretch (sorry it TMI)

JaquelinehydeAllTheEggs · 13/04/2009 00:13

Thank-you everyone for the advice.

It is still bleeding a little, I shall pop to the Dr's on Wednesday if it continues.

I have worried myself more than needed I think because Cancer links kept popping up when I was internet diagnosing

On the list of symptoms I had anal bleeding, night sweats, and constant tiredness to the point that for 2 days it was a struggle to move or even stay awake DP was worried.

Anyway thank-you again.

It is because of the cancer links that you must go and see your GP.

JaquelinehydeAllTheEggs · 13/04/2009 23:19

I will definately have it checked out Thing. Better safe than sorry.

was the blood mixed with your poo or separate?
so 5 poos yesterday - is that normal for you??

Jaquelinehyde · 15/04/2009 14:20

No not normal at all!!

Blood appears to be seperate to my poo but is hard to tell becase I can't really see the poo because the toilet water is full of blood.

Sorry if TMI

I am going to the Dr's today (4.10) as it hasn't stopped fully yet (lessened a bit).

I'm actually quite worried now, I can't shake this tiredness and sit in the evening boiling hot when the temperature is perfectly ok.

I know it will be nothing but I'm still fretting

luvaduck · 15/04/2009 23:36

how did it go???
it may be that you have colitis - this can be a simple infection or inflammatory (eg something like crohns)

it sounds like a lot of blood to be piles

hope you were sorted - you need a referral to gastro - possibly even as an inpatient, because you are probably anaemic and have a temp by the sound if it

GOOD LUCK

Jaquelinehyde · 16/04/2009 15:17

Well my Dr said it could be several things (as expected) piles, diabetes?, and bowel cancer.

I have to have blood tests done to check for loads of stuff and they want to check for anemia. However, I can't get an appointment for blood tests until May 18th because they have to be morning ones because I'm fasting. I'm furious.

They bleeding is now really light, and my night temp seems to have dropped but I am exhausted. I slept well last night but within an hour of being up I was feeling tired. DS went to nursery and I went back to bed until 11.30. I still feel exhausted.

I don't know if I can stand another 3 weeks like this.

luvaduck · 16/04/2009 20:03

that is outrageous

am just busy with ds but will be back later on tonight with some advice (i'm a GP myself)

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 16/04/2009 20:06

i had this and worse and turned out to be crohns disease

i had lots of pain and mucous loss and massive blood loss

also perpetually felt unwell and had a low grade temperature all the time

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 16/04/2009 20:08

i was referred to BUPA hospital as have private helath insurance, was seen within 48 hours for diagnostic blood tests and colonoscopy

can you afford to go private?
