I have name changed for rather astoundingly obvious reasons. I have had for literally as long as I can remember, certainly over a year a big horrible spot on my bottom, right towards the crack bit. It is big and hard and boil-ish. Sometimes it seem to burst and there is a little bit of blood and then a scab then that falls off then the big spot just comes back. There are 2 little spots right near it. I always get them in threes for some stupid reason. But this one is really big and annoying and sometimes hurts when I sit down and I cant stop messing with it. I know that doesnt help but I clean it constantly, and have no hygiene issues whatsoever.

What on earth can I do to get rid of it??? I hate it, I hate knowing it is there all the time I feel so unsexy.

And trust me, it IS a spot there are no horrible VD's lurking. I have been tested and am in a monogamous relationship. Its just a stupid persistent spot. HELP

I friend's boyfriend had something that sounded similar and had it treated medically by a doctor. It was in the same place too. If it's that hard and that persistant it might well be worth having your GP look at it. Meanwhile, could you try some tea tree oil?

A friend's boyfriend.
Hasten to add that I never saw the spot in question!

Could it be a pilonidal cyst?

here

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 15:30

I read something about a 'tunnel' pilonidal sinus oh no, that's what I was thinking of, but it doesn't really sound like your description, does it?

Might be something similar though?

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 15:31

in the time it took me to google, I x posted with benny.

it isnt that cyst thing I dont think, I looked at the picture of it and it doesnt look anything like that picture (and thank god I am not as hairy! LOL) it really looks like a big red round circular spot. It isnt scraggly looking at all.

thank you for taking pity on me

My DH had a pilonidal cyst (and he is that hairy). It was a swelling, quite hard and round with a small black dot in the middle I think.

And this is from Hecate's link (loving the easter name by the way!)

"You may develop some pain which is less intense than the 'acute' symptoms. Usually the sinus discharges some pus. This releases the pressure and so the pain tends to ease off and not become severe. However, the infection never clears completely. So, typically the symptoms of pain and discharge can persist long-term, or flare up from time to time, until the sinus is treated."

So if it is in the right place I would still say it is a possibility

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 08/04/2009 15:37

Yes he'll have to look at it. I know it's embarrassing, but he sees stuff like that all the time. That's what a gp is FOR!!! At, tbh, it's clearly not going to go away on it's own, so it's see gp or live with it. And you don't sound like you want to live with it.

[steaming great hypocrite who never ever goes to own gp with anything emoticon]

but you know I'm right

Mumsfruitandnut · 08/04/2009 15:38

Impetigo?

reallybummedout · 08/04/2009 15:55

yes yes you are right. I will suck it up and go. I cant live with it I have been patient and waited for it to go on its own for longer than I can remember and I am bloody sick of it! And it hurts at the moment. And dents my otherwise indefatigable sex appeal.
