I am on Metformin have been for a month now 500 morning and 500 night, I am so thirsty, have a headache, non stop upset tummy and feel so sick the whole time.
Will this pass? Or do I need to go back to the Dr

You can get metformin SR (slow release), named glucophage. It reduces the side effects greatly (personal testimony here). Go back to your gp and request the SR formula. (Costs more so gp's surgery are reluctant to prescribe it, but it is a quality of life issue here.

I agree with cheshirekitty about metformin SR I was switched to them because of stomach upsets and found they were greatly reduced. Unfortunately for some unknown reason blood sugar levels kept going up so was prescribed 850mg twice a day and they did cause stomach upsets big time. I put up with them for 4 months and then read an article about how they can upset the balance in your 'gut' and recommended you take a probotic so I purchased Acidophilus from Holland and Barrett and found them very helpful.

Thank you, CK the Dr said SR was not suitable for a first time user but I will go and ask again, I feel worse now then I did before the pills
