Need some reassurance while I wait for doctor to phone me back about blood test results

I had some blood tests done last week as I was continuosly itching all the time. Have just phoned surgery to see if the results were in. Receptionist said they were all normal apart from one which a letter has been sent out to me about saying contact the surgery. I'm now waiting for doctor to phone me back to talk to me about these results.

I know they did a liver function test but not sure what else. I'm panicking now
I used to suffer quite badly from health anxiety when I had pnd and I can feel it rearing it's head again.

Anyone want to soothe me while I wait

And I am going to ahhve an injection into my eye tomorrow

we are all in the same boat- and we will all be FINE!

Now, grab a cuppa and i'll stroke your head a bit.

Yes I know I have done it before a few years ago, according to my online diagnosis I was looking at 3 - 6 months. I'm still here though!

How odd that so many people would write a comment about a kitten! For some reason it reminds of that kid from sixth sense

Hiya. What happened? have you heard yet? Hope everything's ok [hug]

oopsagain - hope the eye thing goes ok - sounds grim

Elibean · 17/03/2009 15:25

Are you still waiting, Connor?

When you say 'was itching' it sounds as though you're not anymore? So maybe you had a temporary/viral-or-something-else reaction - in which case you could also have a temporarily abnormal blood result (especially liver function, they're v sensitive to all sorts - from a heavy night out to the common cold). This as antidote to any googling you might be up to

Hang in there....

ConnorTraceptive · 17/03/2009 15:28

still waiting.

The itching did stop (although feel all prickly now - but will put that down to being anxious)

thanks for reassurance

Poor you hun - well he's got a minute or so left before 3.30 to call.... well actually that's it - time's up. Is it worth calling surgery to ask if he's going to call or whether he's busy with emergency? How reliable is your gp/sugery?

Thinking of you.....

ConnorTraceptive · 17/03/2009 15:38

No news. They are a good surgery, the receptionist did say it may be just before or a little bit after. I will give him til 4.30 (if i ca stand it) and will phone back.

I'm hoping because they initially sent a letter, rather than calling me direct once results were in that it's not too mch to worry about?

connor goes off to get a grip

choochoochaboogie · 17/03/2009 16:19

Alriiiight ! \Good news - you can deal with low iron - that's easy ! I recommend Ferrous Sulphate, cheap as chips from chemist and get yourself boosted !

Northernlurker · 17/03/2009 16:20

I would have been scared too! Don't be - are they going to give you something to fix that? (Oh and yes a letter is ok news - it's when they get straight on the phone and order you to hospital that you need to worrry)

ConnorTraceptive · 17/03/2009 16:23

yes I've got to pick up some iron tablets from docs tomorrow.

thanks all

Beware - iron tablets can cause constipation, having suffered from taking them previously.

If they give you the same problem, the onnly thing I found that worked that didn't cause problems was to get the sachets of iron rich water from Boots - think they are called spa tone. unfortunately I don't think you can get them on prescription. there might be some other sort of tonic things that also have the iron in suspension that work too that you can get on prescription, ask your doctor or pharmacist. The sachets were great, empty them into some orange or cranberry juice (the vitamin c helps iron absorption), you can't really taste them. and so much better than suffering constipation - it had got to a point where I was considering it preferable to give up the iron tablets - when a friend told me about these.
