I'm due to have my gallbladder removed tomorrow and have felt a bit sniffly for the last couple of days. this evening I am feeling a bit rough, can't stop sneezing, sore throat and ears and a bit bunged up in general.

Is this likely to affect whether or not they will do the op?

We have moved mountains to get childcare sorted out and DH has put a case to his work for working from home and it would be a right royal pita if it were rescheduled.

If no fever, nothing coming up from your chest and no shortness of breath you should be ok.

Depends on the gasman though. Good luck!

Tonight - lots of fluids and paracetamol.

scrooged · 11/03/2009 21:54

You can phone them now and ask them, they are open all the time you know!

Does depend on the anaesthetist.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2009 22:00

lol scrooged . It's the local private hospital, so they might not be! they said if I was worse today to call, but I felt better all day. It's only stepped up a gear in the last hour or so.

I'll dose myself up on paracetomol and see how I go. Can't do much in the way of fluids as I'm nil by mouth from midnight. Fingers crossed I'll feel better in the morning once I'm up and about.

Am tempted to take some drying up stuff in the morning, but am BFing so don't want it affecting my supply.

Be careful though, you have to tell them what medication you are taking as it could interfere with the anaesthetic.

My local private hospital's open 24 hours.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2009 22:06

paracetomol will be OK though won't it?

I'll see how I am in the morning....if it needs to be postponed it needs to be postponed.

Paracetamol should be fine, they give this to you at the hospital anyway.

I hope you're feeling better soon. Do you have stones?

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2009 22:26

yup.....nasty horrible things. they keep getting stuck causing me pain for days on end

Could they not do an ERCP instead or blast them? Less invasive.

scrooged · 11/03/2009 22:27

Sorry, shouldn't have put that I'm sure they know far better then me.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2009 23:06

they said they could but they would more than likely come back so removal is the preferred option. Difficult to blast them as well as they are the wrong composition apparently; too soft for it to work effectively.

given the pain they have caused me (think 5 day long contraction) I'm more than happy to see the back of my gallbladder!

I hope it goes well for you and you are feeling better tomorrow.

LackaDAISYcal · 11/03/2009 23:50

thanks scrooged
