Stabbing pain in breast

HM847 · 11/03/2009 01:14

I have been getting stabbing pains in my lower right breast, I have had a good feel and there is nothing there. The pain is always the same although it happens at different times and always in the same place.

I am not breastfeeding or pregnant.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi, my pain is similar to yours (execpt upper left breast). No lump, different times, same place. And not PG or BF.

I looked on here a few days ago and a few people mentioned issues with underwire bras. Not something that occured to me, and i can't see how where the pain is relates to the wire, but I'll be buying a cheep non underwired bra at the weekend to see if that helps. The stabby pains are sporadic (had none today, but plenty yesterday).

Hope you're not getting to worried (I've got a cheek!) and hope all is well.

Was about to post about this myself. So will sign in here for the sporadic breast pain thread!

I had this abot 6 months ago, although I was breast feeding at the time. I went to the DR's who did a full examination and he did say that he could feel lymph nodes in both armpits. I had to go back a couple of weeks later. The pains had subsided by then although nodes still there. He felt there was nothing to be concerned over as generally if it was serious pain would progress not subside.

I have been having this pain again for a couple of weeks but am no longer BF so will go back if it continues.

Important to get checked ladies so of to the doctors you pop!

I need to see my GP in 2 weeks

I have this on and off. Maybe it's hormone related, maybe happens at particular times in the cycle? I haven't been concerned - not sure I should be?

Have also had routine breast exam and fine.

My doctor suggested this was hormonal, water retention and underwire bras! So no underwires, good support, evening primrose oil later it went away. I was a bit unhappy at the bra bit because I could do with a bit the old push em up and out type of help so I just wear them occasionally! I had stopped taking the evening primrose (because I forgot to buy it ) and it came back. Taking them again and it's gone.

That's interesting polgara although wild horses couldn't drag me away from my underwire bra's.

Well I felt the same but the pain was enough to make me change my mind! I do look wistfully at the nice, pretty underwired bras I have in my drawer whilst getting out my sensible, non-wired ones though! It not so bad in winter because I am so covered up you wouldn't know what I had hiding underneath anyway .

I got this a few years ago - the pain would stop you in your tracks. I went to the GP who gave me a check over and found nothing wrong. She said it might be muscular - at that time I was always lifting my DDs. Mine went away eventually and I don't ever feel it now at all. Perhaps its better you get it checked out anyway - for your own peace of mind. I never have worn underwire bras so I can't blame that!
