The things I ask on behalf of friends - warning TMI

I am posting this question on behalf of my nanny friend who is too embarassed to go to her GP and I thought I would run it by the knowledgeable mumsnetters.
She says she has this feeling that she has a sore clitoris but not really. She says if she had a prostate it would be like it was swollen as she keeps having to go to the toilet every 5 minutes and only wees a little bit. Also she feels like she needs to masturbate but not really. Any ideas? I am sick her googling on my computer and coming up with porn sites.
Thanks (and thank you from Michelle too)

she won't know until she goes to the doctor - which is probably what most people will advise !

I had a thrush infection that started like that. Perhaps she could start by trying some Canesten? Hope that helps your "friend"

It sounds like cystitis -I've never had the clitoris thing, but I remember a friend once saying hers felt as if it was 'hanging off' (ew).
And the needing to wee but hardly any coming out ties in as well.

I swear to god its a friend. If it was me I would name change or just admit it was me. I have no shame. She asked me to ask becuase she knows there is a wealth of info on here.
I will make her go to the GP. I just needed back up for my diagnosis. Thank you!!

OnlyWantsOne · 09/03/2009 19:40

i think a trip to nurse or GP sounds like an infection of some thing... helpful lol

geordieminx · 09/03/2009 19:42

cystitus

cass66 · 09/03/2009 19:57

tell her to take a urine sample with her please. very frustrating when patients turn up saying 'I think I've got cystitis', then don't have a urine sample with them.

LaDiDaDi · 09/03/2009 19:58

Cystitis.

LouIsAHappyLittleVegemite · 10/03/2009 09:36

She has been to the GP and is on antibiotics with a UTI that could kill a horse.
Thank you very much everyone for your help. She now owes me a bottle of wine for being correct!
