So Ive got this dreaded cold that is going around, have had it for about a week. Coughing, sore throat, blocked nose, temerature etc etc, I woke up this morning and I have noticed tiny (pin prick size) blood spots on my body, arms & legs. The dont dissapear when pushed, but they arent in a cluster together, spread a few cm/inches apart. Theres not hundreds of them either, but enough to make me .

Ive called the doctors who are supposed to be calling me back, but Im guessing (hoping) I will get an answer on here before they do actually call back!

What do you think it could be? Is it just a rash because of the cold I have? I feel ill, but not really ill, if that makes sense.

Help.....

viral rash?

I will be watching this thread, as I have had this on and off since having glandular fever. Doc initially thought the blood spots (petechiae) was from low blood platlets, but all tests came back as normal, so lots of shoulder shrugging is going on. Also, mine do not fade when glass is pressed.

german measles? (Is that the same thing as Rubella?)

Just got back from doctors, they wanted to see me! Now they sendinding me to hospital to have bloods, they think like you tiredsville that it could be low platelet count because of this virus that I have! The spots dont dissapear when pressed but they are VERY tiny! The doctor too didnt really know what it was. Strange...I will update when I can.

Yes do yummymummy, I would be interested to know. Hope all is well.

I use to get these all the time on my legs and arms. I have never done anything about them and a doctor acquaintance said I should have blood tests as they could mean low platlet count. I can't remember the last time I had them, so I haven't worried. Blood tests sound like your mind would be put at ease. I do know they aren't meningitus though!

dd2 has a leaky vein condition, cant remember what its called, when she bumps herself it looks like menigitis rash. Not dangerous unless it goes to the kidneys so i have to do frequent urine checks on her.
