Dental pain is the worst I reckon.

I've had 3 Caesareans and they hurt less than this

I have a cellulitis of my face and gums caused by an infection around a partially erupted wisdom tooth. The pain is incredible, I can't eat (which is the worst part!) and feel grotty.

I have antibiotics and have to go back to have the tooth out next week. I hope they work quickly.

Huge sympathy for you! I had an impacted wisdom tooth last year and it was horrendous, definately worse than my caesarians. I had it taken out to huge relief but then the clot came away and it got infected, I was taking a cocktail of paracetemol and ibuprofen and literally watching the clock until I could have another (that was when I saw you could take these two simultaneously by googling wisdom tooth pain on mumsnet!).

Anti-b's and having it packed worked a treat though and it had healed in about three days.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/02/2009 18:58

ow your poor thing. That sounds really really horrendous.

cocolepew · 26/02/2009 19:00

I'll raise you a toncilectomy

(Poor you, watch the painkillers, it's easy to over do it when you're in severe pain)

Hope you're better quickly.

I had an abcess on my fanjo 2 weeks after an episiotomy.

Where do I collect my prize?

Ask the pharmasist for the strongest painkillers in the shop. Might take the edge off?

I am with you sidge, Ive been in agony for a week popping painkillers like tic tacs. Finally got round to seeing dentist today as pain has spread all up left side of face, neck jaw, ear. Dentist said i got bad infection caused by wisdom tooth (i knew that) got to be referred to hosp to have it removed but for know i got some ant-b's and painkillers.

It hasnt stopped me eating it just taking me a long time to eat it.

Sidge · 26/02/2009 19:30

cocolepew - tonsillectomy? Pah! A bit of ice cream and you're right as rain. Get away with yerself

TheCrackFox - nope sorry the prize is still mine. At least with a fanjo abscess you can still eat (even if you have to stand up to do so). Get away with cocolepew

Mortica - sorry you share my prize. Hope your offending tooth is soon gone.

Crackfox - I am off to pinch DHs drugs, he got given co-dydramol for his vasectomy last week so they should do the trick.

Ice cream?!? I should be so bloody lucky, I was given toast and Ryvita for tea after my op.

I can reccommend Voltarol, I've been high since last Tuesday on a cocktail of prescriptive medicines.

Sidge · 26/02/2009 20:10

Ouch at toast and Ryvita! And LOL at spending days in a chemical fog, hurray for strong prescription painkillers I say.

Off topic, is it you coco that is the fellow avid Lee Child fan? Have you seen this?

Thanks! More Jack Reacher , There's a new Stephanie Plum out as well, it's not a number book but it's definately her.

ooo, i have the same thing! Wnet to the dentist yesterday as i've had pain where a wisdom tooth is trying to force it's way through my gum dentist said it was infected numbed the area and then got rid of the gunk now have antibiotics to take, but have to say the tooth is much less painful. it's a pita to eat though

I have to go back on monday, when i'll speka to him about the wisdom tooth itself as it may need taking out.

I now have much more sympathy with poor little babies and understand why they won't eat when they're teething!

zazen · 27/02/2009 09:33

Wait! Don't go handing away any trophies yet
I've had kidney stones, gall stones, three day labour, without pain relief, a crash cesarean, impacted wisdom teeth and I still reckon that having mastitis, and a babe with a bad latch for weeks was the worst ever!

Hope you're feeling better soon Slidge - try microwaving a sock full of rice and holding it up to your face - or freeze it if you can't tolerate heat. Try sluicing out your mouth with hot as you can stand salty water every hour, and, of course, take all the drugs offered.
