history

cant keep down liquids or tabs. have kept down my last drink for 20 min now but am starting to feel nauseous again.

i cannot speak - AT ALL else i would phone nhs for advice.

feel hot. thermometer in other room, on last check was 38. is that ok though? starting to feel a bit out of it.

what to do for best? worried if i drink more will make me spew NOW as opposed to leaving whats in there for a bit.

x

cool flannel, open windows?

Flightattendant27 · 23/02/2009 21:06

Right if it's the eryth making you sick you need some anti vom stuff.

Try and get someone to get you something prescribed (metoclopramide good) but in the meantime, keep cool, light clothing, sheet not duvet.

38 not too bad for tonsilitis imo.
39 and over is when you want to try harder to reduce it.

Flightattendant27 · 23/02/2009 21:07

Have you got calpol in the house? Easier to swallow than tabs.

giraffescantdancethetango · 23/02/2009 21:11

I have to go as ds2 howling house down

Hope someone can help xx

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 23/02/2009 21:20

Aw you're in a bad way

What about a tepid bath? I think cold baths are bad for high temp, but tepid may help?

How long have you been being sick for?

Anyone with you that can call nhs direct for you?

normansmum · 23/02/2009 21:20

cool bath? soluble paracetamol or brufen (or both) 38 ok but if you start shivering with temp and tonsilitis you should get in touch with someone. Can you try nhs direct on net and explain you can't speak. HTH

giraffescantdancethetango · 23/02/2009 21:24

would love a bath but feel a bit dizzy and so prob not a good plan. no am alone. have a wet tshirt on my head and its lovely!

im sure its fine but the thermomiter is my dads...from when i was a child...i am 24 its one of the ones you put on head and colour changes goes green on 38 and tan on 39. (is only 5 temp options). does it ive a diff reading? i felt better than this this morn when Dr did my ear temp.

Try soda/tonic water, the stuff with quinine in it.

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 23/02/2009 21:37

Could you suck some ice? Text a friend and get them to come sit with you for a while.

kalo12 · 23/02/2009 21:39

cup of tea and an early night?

giraffescantdancethetango · 24/02/2009 08:34

Thanks all.
Finally keeping liquids down again. Im fantisising over gulping huge glasses of oasis...but keeping to small drinks until I am sure I wont puke. As soon as I can walk I will be going to shop to buy oasis!!

Forehead feels normal temp today and I dont feel that panicy out of control way...temps 36. I am wondering if thats what my normal temp shows at on that thermometer and thats what I felt so bad at 38/38.5 on that one?

Thanks again x

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 24/02/2009 08:36

Was just coming on here to ask how you were today!

Maybe that is your normal temp. I have a friend who's normal is alot lower than everyone else's.

Glad you're feeling better. Have a duvet day with lots of fluids and rest.

Bucharest · 24/02/2009 08:37

38/38.5 isn't too bad, docs recommend starting to give anti-fever meds like paracetomol after 38.5 as a fever is the body's way of fighting the infection....(I'd keep ramming the paracetomol down though if you can)
Try sips of room temperature Oasis.
I always crave original fizzy lucozade when I've been sick.
Hope you feel better soon.
