Piles in pregnancy - Is there anything more effective than Germoloids??? <<ouch>>

I'm only in the first trimester fgs, but I already have piles

I'm keeping them at bay with Germoloids, but only just. If I forget to apply it for a day, the piles come back with a vengeance. There was a small pile sticking out of my bottom this morning, which I poked back in (But why can't I help but snigger at my own plight)

My poos are fine (I'm not at all constipated) so I don't know why I have them.

I CANNOT bear the thought of being like this (or worse) until September. I'm too lazy to drag myself off to the doc if he'she is just going to prescribe more crappy cream. Is there anything more radical that can be done during pregnancy? (I'm thinking surgery here....wheres the AmateurArseDoctor?? ).

Sympathy and happy bottom vibes gratefully received.

There have been a few threads like this (I suffered terribly in both pregnancies and got help via a similar thread). I can't remember the name of a very useful suppository, i think its prosecdyl (or something like this but I'm not sure if its recommended in pregnancy. I'd ask your gp.

Hopefully someone more useful will come along soon.

Oh and I forgot to say its definately worth getting off your arse () and seeing your gp so you get it sorted sooner rather than later as if you leave it too late they will get even worse. Believe me you really don't want them to get worse... (7 days post birth sitting on ice packs... 24 hours a day...)

Thanks Attilla. I did a search for it before starting this thread and there were about a gazillion threads on the subject. Most people seem to be having some success with Germoloids/Anusol etc.

I guess I will have to expose my unhappy arse to the doc.

I've had 4 pregnancies but only ever got piles in the 3rd and in the 1st trimester - I have absolutely no idea why, I always thought you got them at the end. I found Anusol did the trick.

Good luck - I never had them before I was pregnant and, so far, haven't had them since

oh god, tis grim isn't it? Just providing sympathy and happy bottom vibes as requested, as I got them in the third trimester of both my pregnancies. First time nothing helped and they were agony (mainly internal too), this time it has been anusol and germaloids that have done the trick, but they are external and not usually painful.

I agree about not being constipated btw - my poos have been fine all through this pg and I still got piles. Grrrrr.
