If you've had laser eye surgery, how long did it take for your vision to 'settle down'?

It's been a week and i am on the whole really pleased but am still getting some 'star burst' around artificial lights, will that disappear eventually?

My vision was fine the same day. I didn't get any halo-ing.

Did you have a strong prescription before the surgery?

Quite strong astigmatism and a little bit of short sight. It seems to be better today so I am hoping it will improve more. The surgeon did say there was a higher risk of halo-ing etc with my prescription and i may need further correction. Although i don't think i could go through it again!

I had the halo thing for a good couple of weeks after the surgery. It took at least a week for things to settle down and several weeks of having to use eye drops for dry eyes. I didn't feel totally back to normal for about a month?

Thanks flibertygibet and scienceteacher, that is reassuring to know it will hopefully settle down a bit more. I'm surprised at how sore and bruised my eyes feel, they definitely play that down in the pre-op consultation!

The halo-ing never disappeared for me - I was disappointed for a while but it doesn't really bother me much. I could have gone back for further correction but I felt I didn't need it.

Must say though, I didn't feel at all sore and bruised beyond about 48 hours so maybe ring the clinic and see what they say?

Hi Katerina, the soreness is definitely lessening so unless i get more pain i think it is ok, it did feel as though the surgeon was quite rough during the procedure. I am finding the halo-ing is only around artificial light such as car headlights, do you have this? Do you have any problems driving at night?
