..what is it and is it normal?

I was doing some DIY flat pack stuff and slipped and ended up slicing my thumb quite deep. It bled for quite a while but stopped eventually and has started to seal together again quite well.

My thumb hurts and is sore as expected and the bit of my hand under my thumb is sore too.

A bit further up my hand there is a small pale bluish bumb. Not big. It is directly on/over a vien which is also bluish tinged. It hurts when pressed, quite a bit.

What is it?

probably just where all the cells are building up to heal, when did you do it?

This morning, about 11ish. Cut my finger putting DD's bookcase together. Sliced it one quite deep ad again underneath just a bit. Also scraped all my arm too.

Have since also falled down half the stairs after slipping on the cardboard packaging. So also have bruised other hand and back.

It has been one of theose days!

I don't know but might it be worth checking it out - in case it's a blood clot or something?

Hulababy · 20/02/2009 20:44

Our minor injuries and walk in centre are both closed now; close at 8pm. A&E is right across town and the lump really is very small and the blue colour def very pale. It doesn't hurt all the time, just when pressed.

Surely after all this time it couldn't be anything serious?

Inflatammation iss most likely I assume?

Trouble is so much of me aches and urts today after my many tumbles!

it's just swelling, poor you. what were you making? did it get done?

Flightattendant27 · 20/02/2009 20:47

If you have a blood clot in the cephalic vein (runs all the way along your arm and up side of thumb) it should disappear by itself, they don't migrate like the leg ones.

Was DD's bookcase. Did one bookcase and desk yesterday.

Cut thumb on second piece of wood. Stopped to clear it up and bandage. Fortuately at that point thumb was numb so got bookcase finihed and her room sorted. Just started hurting after I finished.

bung a pad on it

Need to redo thumb bandage before bed as a bit grumpy. For bedtime may make it bigger to stop me knocking the lump too. Thanks
