How can you tell if vit supplements are doing anything?

Or can't you? I've been taking vitB complex for nearly a year now and I have no idea if it's doing anything. Was advised by doc to take multivit and B vit for colitis and breast cancer.

Really you should do a blind trial: get some vitamin tablets and also some tablets of nothing that look the same. Take one lot for a month (or suitable period of time) and then take the other lot for a month and decide which made you feel better.

That might be possible if I knew what I was trying to find out! I mean, how do you measure feeling "better"? Also, colitis flares up and makes me very very tired, so again it is difficult to know what help any vitamins might or might not be doing

I take mutivitamins (when I remember) too, just for general healthyness, but I also have no idea if they are achievin anything.

Are these supplements expensive, so do you want to stop taking them? Or are you just curious?

I wouldn't bother if I wasn't on other medication and hadn't been recommended by bc nurse and gut doctor... But, in an attempt to prolong my life...

In an attempt to prolong your life... keep taking them. They may be doing nothing. But they won't be doing any harm.

Does anyone actually know anything useful here?
