CoLyte (laxative) use whilst breast feeding - urgent advice needed

I've been referred for a Colonoscopy tomorrow, and prescribed CoLyte to take today...
My dd is just 14 weeks and breast fed, can I continue breast feeding or do I need to get her to take a bottle...which she refused when we tried last week...
I told the surgeon that I'm bf-ing, also in view of sedation tomorrow, and he said no worries...but i'm worried...I'm not in the uk and I don't entirely trust the medical profession here...they seem to prescribe ANYTHING with a NO WORRIES attitude...
I'm hoping I'm over worrying...as I tend to do...
Patient inserts just state -
"It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding."
Any medics out there PLEASE HELP

I'm not a medic but I've just spoken to the BfN about a different drug and they were very helpful - 0844 4124664.

They also told me about this site which has a good section abot drugs and lactation but I couldn't find CoLyte on there. Does it have a different name aswell?

I was prescribed a mild laxative after giving birth to my eldest and it definitely affected his bowels, the midwife said that was what had caused him to have an upset stomach. Could you ring the local maternity hospital or the midwifery team. Good luck for tomorrow.

Thanks for that IWIWMO, unfortunately i cant get 0844/0845 etc no's to work from here. In Saudi...not much seems to work from here...but i'll try the site. Other names include Klean.Prep, AKA PEG-3350 - Electrolytes (PEG: Polyethylene Glycol)

Sorry, I had to nip out. According to this on Kellymom, this medicine isn't absorbed into the bloodstream much so should be safe

Littlefish · 10/02/2009 15:32

UmSami - I had a sigmoidcolonoscopy and it really wasn't too bad. I didn't have any sedation and although it was uncomfortable, I just did lots of deep breaths and got through it ok.

Hope it goes ok for you tomorrow.

UmSami · 10/02/2009 18:21

Thanks CharChar...you're not the Char I know and love are you?! Whoever you are, thanks for the reassurance!...
Littlefish: you're much braver than me...I freaked out just with the sigmoid...I know I wont make it through without sedation!
Just slurping through the CoLyte...truly the most repulsive thing...especially when theres 4litres of the stuff...YUK!
