you should definitely get that checked out i think, i would call nhs direct now or at very least go and see your gp this morning.

mad4mybaby · 10/02/2009 07:02

i took a migraleave (sp) about half hour or so .... pins and needles are virtually gone....

it could well be. But i personally think it's worth seeing them.or can you call and speak to them?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/02/2009 10:20

how are you now??

Peachy · 10/02/2009 10:35

Have you any speech issues? If so you should call 999 in case its a stroke (FAST- face, arms, speech, time to call 999)

if not still emergency appt job definitely

peachface · 10/02/2009 10:38

Definitely go and see gp - can anyone help with your dcs? Even if it is just a funny migraine, best not to chance it.

wannaBe · 10/02/2009 10:41

agree with peachy. there is some awareness campaign going on on our local radio station atm, and some of the warning signs are:
speach - is your speach clear?

face: can you smile? Try doing it in the mirror if no-one around to see.

arms - can you lift your arms above your head and hold them there?

Def emergency appointment regardless - could be a stroke which is unfortunately not uncommon (not hugely common but not unheard of) after childbirth.

The feeling sick could be anxiety.

rubynoodles · 10/02/2009 10:45

I had this when i was pregnant - got numb fingers, lips & tongue as well!!

Gp told me it was a migraine-but it is still best to get it checked out - gp may be able to give you something for it.

Hope it gets better soon

twinmam · 10/02/2009 10:47

Here's the reassuring bit - it probably IS a migraine. I get similar symptoms with migraine and they got worse a few weeks after having DDs .....
BUT you still MUST get this checked out!!! Like WannaBe says, these symptoms could indicate something more serious. Even if it's just a migraine your dr needs to monitor them if they're getting worse - no way you can manage to look after your dcs when feeling so dreadful - you might need more/ different meds. Totally sympathise with getting to dr's with 2 in tow but please do get it checked. Good advice above to ring NHS direct.

mad4mybaby · 10/02/2009 11:18

i rang nhs direct who said prob migraine but togo doc if it continues...just have a headache now... thanks guys x

I would still make gp appt - just in case. Do you have anyone who could look after DC for short while for you to go? Otherwise take toys, drinks, snacks etc and brave it - best to be sure.

DaphneMoon · 10/02/2009 12:14

Please see a doctor as soon as possible

Boco · 10/02/2009 12:17

I am eating the rest of my 3 bean, celery and spinach salad. Dd2 just came in and shouted 'you are eating COMPOST! STOP IT!'

raisins
celery
beans
spinach

peachface · 10/02/2009 12:18

Go and see the doctor. NHS direct can't see you (and to be honest I do wonder about their advice sometimes. I had some poor advice from them a while back and ended up in hopsital with them considering keeping me in and on a drip so if I'd taken their advice and not bothered seeing a doc, I could have been in a LOT of trouble). Headaches are not something to take lightly if accompanied by any sorr of numbness or tingling, even if it has now subsided. Not meaning to scare you here, but think you ought to be checked out.

Boco · 10/02/2009 12:19

oops sorry that was meant to be on a different thread.

Do go to the doctor!

peachface · 10/02/2009 12:21

i did wonder Boco! hahaha

Boco · 10/02/2009 12:31

Always seem to do that on threads where someone is having some kind of emergency and I come and cheerfully start listing vegetables or talking about my cat in a demented fashion. Stoopid.

Anyway, hope you feel better soon. Ahem.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 10/02/2009 13:23

I agree..waking with a headache is supposed to be something that is checked out properly too!!! Please go to the doctor!
