If I have kidney stones - what happens?

I'm struggling atm

I have long standing remission from ME - which I start to suspect may not be 'remissed' any more
I have IBS which is predominantly controlled by diet
I have infection after infection & antibiotic followed by antibiotic

On Wednesday I go to have an Xray to see if I have kidney stones (after a weekend of being diagnosed with Gallstones/Appendicitis/kidney stones) - so if I don't have that I don't know what I have.

I really worry if it is kidney stones as I had a bladder repair which effectively gives me a U bend in my urethra so I doubt anything would come out

I am not in a lot of pain atm - more like a low level pain, sort of an uncomfortableness

I am so tired & I really want to be 'well'

It's best to get it checked if you want to feel better. Is the x-ray a normal abdomnal one or one where they inject dye and take x-rays? They can check for stones doing both but the one with the dye (an IVU) will see how well your kidneys are draining. If there's a stone they can blast it so it's easier for you to pass.

It's the dye one

Would anything solid come out through my U bend?

It depends. They can pick it up on the X-rays they take when you've had the dye. It highlights the kidneys, bladder and tubes connecting them.

Ah so they will see my U bend - I won't just have to explain it, that is good

Actually I'm not sure that is what I have - I finished the antibiotics for the UTI yesterday & woke up with pain this am

They will see it. All the pipework (so to speak) shows up because of the dye.

I have a stone too (apparantly). Pain from a stone moves sometimes, it can go from your kidney to your bladder, you can sometimes feel it as it goes. The IVU is a good idea for you, it will show up alot. Try not to worry.
