I suppose it depends if it hurts him and if you have to keep him dosed up with calpol?

How is he in himself?

psychomum5 · 06/02/2009 18:10

my DD3 broke her nose in a car accident oct 07, she was then 8. advice for her was to keep her home for 2wks as her nose was so fragile and it saved possible knocks, and obviously there is no protection for the nose.

not that it helped........she collided with her brother at home, right on the 2wks post accident, and re-broke it!! (hence another 2wks off).

poor thing......how did he do it??

PortAndLemon · 06/02/2009 18:22

I'd keep him home, probably.

morningsun · 06/02/2009 18:24

he fell flat on face at football training

psychomum5 · 06/02/2009 18:26

ouch!

when does he have any follow-up??

they referred us to a maxilo-facial consultant to ensure then was no pressure from any bones anywhere. luckily, even tho she re-did it, her nose is still as straight as it was

nottoworry · 06/02/2009 18:29

yes,he fell flat on face at football training
psycho did it have to be reduced under g.a.?

no thankgoodness, altho they did make her cry at the hospital right after the accident as they manipulated it as she was finding it hard to breathe at the time and we were not sure if it was panic or her nose, so whether that helped or not we will never know.

the consultant was very thorough making sure all was ok tho when we saw him...he made us giggle with the special torch and eye things on his head to see up noses

i think the initial approach in casualty is to say,we don't generally x ray so since there is no treatment if nose is straight when swelling gone down, check if bent,in 5 to 7 days and if it is bring him back.
Then he would see ent.
But it feels odd not being sure, since i think it is the bone, not the cartilage[is bridge of nose]i feel like i want ent to see him.
If you fracture any bone including greenstick ones, and fingers, toes, you get a next working day fracture clinic appt so it feels odd to have fracture but not be seen again
not expressing myself very clearly this am lol but do you see what i mean?
