Will they give results over the phone??

some of you may know i have been having heart trouble/racing/palpatations with some other systoms for a while now. My consultant has decided to test for pheochromocytoma, which is medical talk for adreanal(sp?) tumors. having read online i can see why. I have done my 24 hour urine collect and battled the snow on monday to return my sample , they have said it will take about a week to get results but im not due to see my cardiologist till 26th feb. Not sure i can wait that long! will path lab give me results over the phone?? My head is pounding, and im so tired and fed up that its taken this long (2 years) before they have decided to take some action.

Anyone able to offer insight

They might do, but also whenever I have had test done, they have sometimes phoned me and ask for me to go in and see my doctor, thats been after a couple of days. But I would phone and see what they say, I don't think they will go into detail.

I think it's unlikely they'll give you the results over the phone from the path lab. If it's positive then they can't answer any of your questions (technicians, not medically qualified), and you'll still have to wait until you see the consultant. it's usually hospital policy not to give out results over the phone.

Also with confidentiality issues etc, how do they know you are who you say you are on the phone???

Also, your GP is also unlikely to get the result either.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but I think you'll have to wait.

I don't know about the path lab but our GP surgery won't give out results over th ephone.(except when THEY rung ME because my bile levels were really massive in pregnancy)

Path lab definately won't tell you as the consultant will interpret the results.
I work in a consultants office and he is always happy to speak to patients on the phone if he knows them. Def. worth a try.
