Lost sense of smell

I can't smell anything...or taste anything...pretty much. Could smell DH burning something under the grill the other night and I can differentiate between savoury and sweet foods but otherwise it's just gone.

I have moderate to severe asthma and in relation to this have had chronic sinuitis on and off for several years. I always lose both smell and taste when I get a cold, but I haven't had any virus that has affected my nose or sinuses for months. It just seems to have gone. Bit worried.

Has anyone else had this. Should I see my GP? Is there anything that can be done to sort this problem...?

Quite often a Nasal Polyp can develop in the sinus, and this can interfere with sense of smell.

If you see your GP,get a referral to an ENT surgeon, who can examine you further, and explain options,or give you answers.
