I had it for 2 weeks, and felt run down for at least a week after that.

singyswife · 03/02/2009 09:29

Thanks, just so I know how much longer I can look forward to this for.

Hope you feel better now.

hope you feel better soon.

CreativeZen · 03/02/2009 12:43

I have had a cough since about 3 weeks before Christmas, went down with flu on 7th Jan and am still feeling utterly miserable and stuffed up. Coughing, blocked nose and sneezing for England. Deep joy.

singyswife · 03/02/2009 12:47

Oh joy.

Does this sound like it or is this something else.

Mad sneezing fits
sore sinuses on and off
Freezing cold
Headache
Sore chest
Tight throat.
Dizziness

It isnt really developing into anything I just have these symptoms

I had it over the christmas holidays. I couldn't literally leave the bed for the first 5 days.
High temperature that wouldn't go down with paracetamol/ibuprofen
Terrible headache
Congested nose
Nausea
Cough and sore throat.
I couldn't eat anything for 5 days as well.
Felt very weak for another 10 days.

francagoestohollywood · 03/02/2009 12:59

Any temp sw?

singyswife · 03/02/2009 13:02

I dont know if I have a temp, I start to feel better (not as cold etc) once I have taken brofen. Having had it 10 days already I hope I dont have it much longer.

Apart from lack of temp, it sounds like The Flu. It was evil, it really ran me down.

singyswife · 03/02/2009 13:10

Thanks for the replies. When can I expect normal service to resume then. I am a creche worker and a mum of 2 and have 2 dogs and I am struggling to get on with it all.

I was extremely thankful of falling ill during the holidays. Yes, my holidays were ruined, but I couldn't stop wondering how I'd have managed during normal school days with school runs/cooking/etc etc. Hope you are on the mend.

singyswife · 03/02/2009 13:15

I hope so too. I go along feeling awful and then for maybe 90 minutes i feel ok then I go back to feeling ill again. It just seems to be ongoing and now I am moaning about it. SORRY

I had it for 3 weeks over Xmas and into January - it was at its worst for about 10 days but seemed to linger around for ages and reinvent itself, once I'd got rid of the nausea, temperature and sore throat, I got earache and sinusitis. I ended up with a course of antibiotics which finally got rid of it.
I was taking ibuprofen alternated with paracetamol which seemed to work, but I was a little concerned by how many tablets it was taking to shift the pain. It's a horrid bug, hope you feel better soon. My mum has had it since before Xmas and is still suffering but she is really prone to flu bugs. My friend got rid of it in about 10 days.

PlumBumMum · 03/02/2009 13:24

Sorry to tell you singyswife I had it for nearly 4 weeks, last coulpe of weaks it was the nausea, I felt like I was pg again

singyswife · 03/02/2009 13:25

plum funny you should say that, I actually did a pg test this morning because that is how I feel. Oh goodie, sounds like I have the best yet to come then.

Hi - I also had the flu got it on Christmas Day - sickness (lots of that), temp 40.7, cough, sinuses, and blocked ears - the worst of it lasted for about a week and I didn't eat at all - my ears only unblocked last weekend and I started to feel about normal.

Strange you should say about the pregnancy test though as I've missed a period - probably due to the flu stopping ovulation though .
