Why is my hair falling out?

I used to have such lovely thick hair!

I had my DD 17 weeks ago, and since then my hair is falling out at a rapid rate, my pony tail is half the size it used to be, and I have blocked my hoover twice in the last two weeks

I am a little stressed, as DS has a lanuage delay and I am finding it all very difficult, but I dont think im that stressed.

Is it all just post-pregnancy hormones?

yes it is all the hair that you should have lost during your pregnancy (when you are pregnant your hair gets stuck in a growing phase and you lose far less than you would normally - once the baby is born you lose the extra hair). With dd my hair loss went on for quite a few months and didnt slow down till she was about 7 months old. With ds I lost hair for a much shorter period of time.

And then you get this lovely ring of very short hair around your forhead when it starts to grow back again. Makes you look like you gave yourself a very stupid haircut.

Thanks everyone - I have such a high forehead I cant afford to lose too much without looking like an idiot!

I'm the same. I looked like an ancient Roman with my silly ring of fluff as it grew back.

Oh dear. I'm also losing hair at an unbelievable rate. The bath drain is blocked with it so when I have a shower I end up ankle deep in water.

Hair loss is usual after childbirth and can also be a cyclical thing - happens to me once a year for a month or so - weird! There are hair loss brittle nail homeopathic pills you can take - I get them in Tesco but I'm sure Boots do them and probably health food shops - they contain some type of salts that are not common in normal diet I think.

ps make sure you clear out shower/bath plughole a lot or you end up with blocked pipes - yuk

I lost so much hair when my DD was 4 months and had the silly ring of fluff eventually too. To depress you further a lot of my new hair is white

Hi, I am new to the site, but as this topic is close to my heart, I had to respond.

In April of last year (my daughter was 15 months old) my mother pointed out that I was going bald. She has been sitting behind me and when the wind blew, my bald patch was revealed. It ended up being 4cmx 4cm. I was extremely upset. Managed to see my GP who prescibed some shampoo and steriods (which didn't work) before refering me to specialist. The specialist prescribed more steriods, which didn't work either. He had told me if the steriods didn't work, the next step would be injections. Well, I went to Canada and while over there my cousin recommended a product and within 7 days my hair was growing. I know it sounds too good to be true, but when I went back to see my cousin she was shocked and told me the area was as smooth as the palm of her hand and after less than 7 days I had lots of little hairs. I have been using it since then (17th December 2008) and am proud to say my 'hairlings' are doing well.

I had been so despondent when the medications I had used hadn't worked and had ordered two different hairpieces, as I believed I would be a victim, but now I am so relieved. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone.

Further more, my hair is its natural colour. The specialist had told me that it may never grow back. If it did it might grow back white etc, but I am proud to say since using this stuff, my little 'hairlings' are doing well.

Am I allowed to say on here? If I am, it is called Nioxin, I bought it in Canada, but you can buy it off

www.lookfantastic.com/hair/nioxin?cid=google_nioxin&gclid=COOYspCtxpgCFUM-3godQxvI1g ht

I must warn you that it is pricey, but considering what I went through, I don't mind cutting back on something else.

The following are the products I used. I wish I had taken photographs, so I could prove it too you, but you can probably imagine that a photograph was the last thing I wanted at the time!!!

NIOXIN SYSTEM 3 CLEANSER FOR CHEMICALLY ENHANCED HAIR

NIOXIN SYSTEM 3 SCALP THERAPY

NIOXIN SYSTEM 4 TREATMENT

NIOXIN INTENSIVE THERAPY FOLLICLE BOOSTER

The last two products I use twice a day. They are the most important.

Hope this helps.

Love
