Does anyone know of a private clinic that'll do a heart health MOT?

I have been getting crushing pains in my chest for a few years now, which scare the hell out of me.

I saw my doctor a while back, who took one look at me (slim, age 30) and said it's a digestive issue. I know it isn't - it feels wholly removed from anything to do with my digestion.

While I readily admit I could be being a hypochondriac here, the fact that these pains are right in the core of my chest is frightening me, and I want them checked out. If my doctor won't take me seriously, is there anywhere private I can go (in the south) that would give me a heart health MOT? Or is this obviously something else/something I needn't worry about and I'm missing a trick?

TIA.

There are some in London, imagine you'd find them easily if you google? DH went for a private heart scan a couple of years ago, think it was at a BUPA place...he found it very reassuring (he has familial high cholesterol).

I would want more reassurance than a GP glancing at me, too!

Goodness me
I would go and ask to see another gp
they do ecgs in our surgery immediately for anyone who feels they need them

Go back to GP or go to your local BUPA or similar private hospital- there are loads about- must be 1 near you.

Lots of chest pains are caused by anxiety- like panic attacks- are you stressed or anxious?

BUPA offer "Healthy heart" checks.

But you ought to be able to have this investigates in the normal manner. Can you see another GP? Bear in mind that there are lots of structures in the chest that can give significant pain apart from the heart: gullet, lungs, muscles/ligament/assorted bits of gristle. So, much I think you need to have this looked at, physical health apart, for peace of mind alone, a heart problem seems not the most likely explanation .

In my area they run dedicated "chest pain clinics" - just remembered!

What is it that you are doing when these chest pains come on? Are you sure that it isn't a digestive issue causing the discomfort? Gastric reflux can cause really severe chest pain, tightness in your throat (like it's closing over)which radiates through to the middle of your back. Anxiety can also cause symptoms very similar to angina, and a combination of the two can have all sorts of weird effects on you!

I was rushed to hospital with chest pains - turned out to be gallstones. I also have a friend who has driven himself to the hospital with a suspected heart attack - indigestion. Saying that, you need to get it checked. If the pain is on exertion then you definately need it checked.
