Fecked off with this cough - what can I do?

I've had this cough since the end of October on and off now and I am really fecked off with it

I had 2 clear weeks over Christmas where I had a throat infection instead (charming) and now after 3 clear days where I actually thought I was getting better I have a sore throat and a dry cough!

I've had antibiotics, cough syrup, upped my inhalers, you name it and am at a loss as to what to do.

I'm supposed to be going out at the weekend - the first time in ages and I will not be happy if it stops me going!!!

I have the same thing. Ive completely changed my inhalers too and it helped a bit but I think the only thing that will help will be summer (if we have one). At least this year I haven't cracked any ribs from coughing. Just pulled muscles instead. Have you been the the GP? Maybe you need to changed to a steriod based inhaler (like atrovent) if your aren't on one already.

Last saw GP at the start of the month when the cough had cleared after a short course of steriods but had a throat infection. Once my throat had cleared the cough came back.

I'm due to see him in 2 weeks and if I'm still like this then I will be bending his ear.

Just so fed up of feeling rubbish, and it's quite embarrassing when people say "have you still got that cough?". And DP's patience is running out now too as I'm not doing so much as I normally do cos I'm so tired and can't be bothered.

Go to the docs and ask to be referred for a chest x-ray - I had a persistent cough for 4-5 months a couple of years ago, turned out to be atypical pneumonia and needed industrial strength antibiotics to clear infection. Got well and truly hacked off at having to stop every couple of yards to clench pelvic floor!! Should have done those exercises!

go to the docs and get referred, my dad had bronchitis for 6 months without realising!

he went on steroids etc and still has some of the cough remaining, its now his signature thing!
