...my son wishes to say thank you (perhaps to you)!

He needed a blood transfusion at the weekend after his blood count dropped to 4.4 and he became quite ill. He is now much better.

After explaining to him about where the blood comes from, he asked me to say thank you to the person who gave it for him.

Awww what a sweet son you have.

It's not from me by the way.

I hope he continues to feel better.

Oh I feel so guilty now. I haven't given blood for years.

Must get myself down there this week...

I'm A+ but I've been potentially malarial, pregnant or breastfeeding for a few years now, so unlikely he got one of my units. Although oddly enough until I read your post I'd never really thought of the units I have donated in the past as going to a real individual IYSWIM. Hope your son continues to get better.

your boy's fab! so glad he's OK

and I for one will try to give blood before too long!

hannahsaunt · 27/01/2009 20:54

Hey - my group too and having given lots of blood over the years I can't anymore having received someone else's kind donation. Thanks from me too . Hope he perks up and feels much better.

pinkspottywellies · 27/01/2009 20:59

I'm A rh + and you've just made me well up!!

I managed to squeeze in a couple more units between pregnancies!! It was also brought home to me how important giving blood is a few years ago - DH's Grandpa needed 8 units while he was in hospital with problems related to cancer and I had just donated my 8th. Made me breathe a sigh of relief!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. DS is doing fantastically we are so pleased. It is amazing the difference the blood has made. Glad it has inspired some of you to go and donate.
