I know it's doing the rounds.

For 3 weeks now I have felt like crap.

More tired than I ever was in early pg

Coughing like an old hag.

Sore skin, like with flu but without the temp.

I look like a goul.

Just want to sleep and sleep
Moan, moan, moan moan,,,[bush]l

Who's had it and come out the other side? How long did it take?

DD2 has it and has been off from school since Tuesday. Now I have it too. God, will it really go on for weeks?

kittywise · 24/01/2009 08:37

Thanks guys. My mum had it for over a month and although she's 'better' she's still coughing.

I'm fed up with feeling under par. Not quite ill enough to take to my bed of course

Hope all the dd's get better!

Yes thing one let me know! I'll stick to the red wine

I started 2 weeks ago with an ear infection and ahve been singed off ever since, I cough like someone on 40 fags a day, and my asthma is allt o pot as well- only got 200 on the peak flow, which isn't good!
I am due back at work on Monday but can't wlak far without wheezing or coughing so don't know how I'll get on

CharCharGabor · 24/01/2009 09:19

DD and I have had it for 8 weeks so far. It's the chesty cough which is the worst, it's just not clearing up at all. I'm thinking of getting us down to the doctors to get checked. Hope you're better soon!

izyboy · 24/01/2009 09:24

Get down the Health Food shop - the ONLY thing that shifted 3 reoccurring cases was Echinacea and 1000mg of Vit C - within days I felt alot better. Also gargle with echinacea for sore throats.

izyboy · 24/01/2009 09:28

Oh and while there check out Manuka honey - 'tis expensive but taken directly should be good for the cough too.

candyfluff · 24/01/2009 09:32

had a virus flu type thing 3 weeks ago and this week ive got bronchitis -i still feel so unwell and ive forgotton what it feels like to be well

candyfluff · 24/01/2009 09:32

sorry that wasnt very helpful was it

Rindercella · 24/01/2009 11:46

Have had it for ages. I had a really bad throat thing a good couple of months ago. It was so bad I called nhs direct, and ended up seeing a doctor on a Sunday (something I have never done before). It was really bad for several weeks, and has since got better but I still wake every morning feeling like I have a shocking hangover - sore throat, headache, general aches, etc., even if I haven't touched any booze for several days - grrr. Would love to feel 100% again sometime soon.

Sorry, I guess that's not very positive for you?!

mrsmaidamess · 24/01/2009 11:53

I was off work for a week with it, and have never felt worse.

I was coughing for a week before I got really ill, and I am still coughing now, 3 weks after it started.

I am coughing up yellow stuff (TMI) which is making me feel I am making some progress. But I now have a heavy cold on top of it. So its snot city here!!

mrsmaidamess · 24/01/2009 11:54

Oh, and I wet my pants every time I cough.

kittywise · 24/01/2009 13:11

Mrsmaidamess, you posts have made me laugh, esp the wetting pants, no it's not funny . Yes you do feel better if you manage to cough up something, all the endless hacking cough for nothing is bloody annoying.

rindercella I don't feel like drinking as much booze as usual, I'm still forcing it down though, 'tis my only pleasure. My body aches constantly, so sore, blinding headaches ( which I never usually get) and that horrible hungover feeling. But it's the crippling tiredness and sore eyes which is getting me down.

candtyfluff have you got some ab's?

izyboy, I've got some manuka honey/propolis mixture which I shall take more off, I've also ordered a mullein/marshmallow cough syrup which is supposed to be very good. i'll give anything a go.

saltire maybe you shouldn't go back to work?
perhaps a day of having cough al over them they'll sign you off again!

charchar it's worth checking out any infection. I hope your chest is clear though.
