Saw the doctor on Wednesday morning and she said she couldn't see any infection so no anti-bios or anything - but 3 days is quite long isn't it? She's also knackered and drinking bucket loads though seems quite cheerful.

Think I'll phone the docs for a 2nd opinion...

I find NHS direct pretty helpful.

Take DD back to the doc's. This afternoon if you can, as it's Friday it would not be fair for her to be poorly all W.E if they could help her out today x

Swollen glands tends to be more a viral response...so Abs won't do anything.

Bacterial infections that accompany swollen glands tend to have other symptoms to identify the cause. What is her temp?

Thanks ladies. I spoke to the doc on the phone. He says this could last up to a week/10 days. She's a bit better but very pale and feeble. The temperature is improving but her neck is all swollen and stiff.

Hopefully she'll be back to school on Monday, she's had 3 days off this week...

be wary of stiff necks - aversion to light, headaches etc
