OK this is the 3rd thing I have taken in a month. Will seeing the dr. do any good?

Basically I have had a vomiting bug, viral infection and now a bad cold all one after the other from Christmas day. Once I have started to feel better something else comes up. Would going to see the dr. do any good at all. Am not asking for antibiotics or anything just really to say that I don't feel my health is very good at the minute I can't seem to get better then I'm sick again. My immune system must be v low and is there anything they could do blood tests or whatever. Or would it be waste of time. I want to feel well again.

hi

i got ill end of october with fluey bugs, tonsillitis, colds, tummy bugs etc etc, like you one after the other

i did go to the doctors severalt iems and did get 2 courses of antibiotics for the tonsils and for a chest infection but either seemed to work for more than a couple of days.

I went back just before christmas at the end of my tether and they did do blood tests for glandualr fever, blood counts etc

as it happened they were all positive and i think i was overtired and generally worn out which left me open to getting new bugs, I do finally feel better now but it was new years eve the first day I felt human again, I dont think we are the only ones this has happened to this year, where I work several people have had the same problem.

The only advice I could give is to be a bit kinder to yourself if possible, rest as much as possible, take paracentomal and ibuprofen if it helps and dont do things that dont really need doing.

But DO go to the dr and tell them how you are feeling, there may be somthing that can be done.

My sympathies though, its awful being ill for so long.

mykiddies, you have my sympathies, I've had back to back to back viruses and colds. I think this winter has been particularly bad for everyone. I've just had my second mc too, and i'm sure that has contributed to my being totally run down too, so I'm getting my doc to sign me off work for two weeks, and keeping ds at the childminders so I can spend two weeks lying on the sofa, watching rubbish tv and sleeping loads. I'm hoping that will shift it. Can you do something similar?

I'm the same. Had flu then noro virus bug and then just after christmas ear throat and chest infection. I just think that whatever this virus strain is it's very strong and knocks you for 6. I am still not 100 % even after the anti biotics. Mine has been going on for about 8 wks now I think lots of sleep is the answer but not always easy when you have children!

Me too, two chest infections and now another feverish cold in the last six weeks and a vomiting bug in the autumn. I think there's a lot of virulent bugs around this winter. i'm seriously thinking of fleeing to lanzarote

good luck at doc.
