how quick to recover after arthroscopy (sp?)

I've torn the cartilage in my knee and am going into hospital next week for an arthroscopy to flush the loose bits of cartilage out (knee keeps locking, very painful etc)

dh is away on business and I will only have a couple of days' notice of when the operation will be so will be tricky to organise help

has anyone had this done - and how did they feel straight afterwards?

my first one took me about 6 weeks to recover and was on crutches for most of that time, the 2nd one 18 months later actually found and cured the problem and was walking around within days and mostly recovered within 2 weeks if thats a help? mine was for a road accident and tendon and patella problems so not similar to cartilage but similar process I expect

Dh has had 3 arthroscopys - if it is just a minor trim and flush kind of thing, then you don't get crutches, and are up and around the same day with fairly minimal pain.

The last time, DH had to have a lot of cartilage removed, and that was a bit of a different story - but all the others in the ward were certainly back on the ward in 30 minutes, and mobile straight after
