Used a new face wash at the weekend at it was too strong-my face has since blistered, gone incredibly painful and dry, and now skin is just peeling and peeling off, and really itches/stings/hurts, and looks a complete mess-bar laying icepops all over it is there anything I can put on? I hate having to leave the house-it is so embarrassing!

I would say nothing, as cream ect could inflame and make it worse!

No washing either give skin time to produce natural oils and heal!

HTH and heals soon

could you contact makers to complain that it has done this to you?

You can make a very soothing masque with honey, olive oil and oatmeal. Grind up the oatmeal, mix with honey and olive oil to form a masque and slather on. Put a steaming hot wrung out towel on your face as well. Helps with redness and dryness and peeling.

OUCH!!! Good luck!

Oh, leave it on for 15 min, rinse with warm water. Dab dry.
You can do this every day.

Thank you. It is Dermalogica, so didn't think I would react this badly (I don't tend to react to face washes, but face will get dry sometimes, but nothing like this!) I only used it once!

I would contact them still, to see if they have had any other complaints?

Pawslikepaddington · 21/01/2009 00:45

That's true. Right, to bed, and hopefully my face will heal a bit while asleep!

how is your poor face today?

also found a reference that says plain yoghurt and honey are very soothing

Try Avene soothing cream. The whole Avene range is brilliant on sore, irritated skin.

You could take piriton to stop the itching and reduce inflamation. I have to be very careful with what I put on my face otherwise it will swell/itch etc.

Pawslikepaddington · 23/01/2009 06:52

My face is Sloooooowly healing, but have hated having to face (ha ha, funny pun!) people all week! Never, ever, EVER again shall I use that stuff, ever!

Go to Boots and buy Trixera cream by Avène and layer it on thick.
