This is the 4th time I have had it. First time was about 15 months ago and I was really really ill with it for ages. Then twice had it mildly. But now have it very badly again along with sore ears, throat. etc.

Am on bethistine dyhydrochloride. And paracetamol and ibuprofen. Feel really nauseous, have only started to be able to read more again (words were jumping and blurry before) am not too bad when sitting propped up in bed and am getting very impatient. But when I get up to go to loo/make a snack I feel exhausted and really dizzy and drunk!

Any way to make it go away faster? Am missing work, yes I know I am a saddo. And there is only so much day time TV a person can take!!

Is it def. labyritnthitis?
Try seeing if you can find anyone to teach you or carry out the Epley Manoeuvre if it keeps coming back or you have a diagnosis of BPPV

Is bethistine dyhydrochloride STEMETIL?

It's the only thing that worked for my dad.

Horrid thing to have though - sympathies.

I'd jump up and down for a referral to a balance specialist. I had this 16 years ago and haven't been well since. I've recently had a diagnosis of 'uncompensated labyrinthitis' and am about to see a physiotherapist. They don't hold out much hope of it helping though, as 'there is 16 years of illness to undo'

It is a hideous, incapacitating illness and I have great sympathy for you going through it. There are a couple of websites where you can get good info - google labyrinthitis.

Light - Dr just had a quick look in ears and throat and took my word it was lab and asked me what meds I wanted First time I ever had it I was diagnosed from symptoms, her testin my vision and something about me standing (cant remember what she did exactly) The 2 times I had it mildly I wasnt examined at all, went in said I thought I had lab again, they printed meds and off I went! TY for link.

shocks - not its not that, I was on that before, but Dr switched me to BHD, also known as serc.

bunny - LOL at jump up and down...I would fall over! Joined a dizzy forum last year and this evening went back on it. Dont seem to be any miricle cures though? Poor you.

Have you considered a gentle manipulative approach like cranial osteopathy? Or acupuncture? Might not be your thing, but might be worth investigating?
