What do you pay for contact lenses these days?

My specs are nearly buggered and I can't drive/read/work/function without them. But I am skint, so I thought I could go back to contact lenses and at least pay monthly for them. I need toric ones, and would prefer dailies (although they didn't used to do toric dailies apparently) but monthlies would do.

that site comes up as £24 for 30 for me, so 3mo is 180, ie £144, which is more than I am paying including care.
Am I missing something, I did think I was paying more for the high street experience maybe I'm not.
If you buy online what do you do about care & check-ups?

I've not had a check-up for ages but have arranged one at optician's for next week.

£24 for 30 is very dear. Does each lense have a small diamond in it?

At Dolland and Aitchinson (sp?) you only get free contact lens check-up appointments if you sign up to their program where they automatically send you lenses and bill them. So it wouldn't work for me as I only get lenses sporadically depending on how flush I feel.

I would love to go back to (cheaper) monthlys, but they were doing bad things to my eyes.

Asda do good lens aftercare, 6 monthly checkups and eye tests etc.

You don't have to sign any minimum buying term either. I get the impression as long as you buy regularly from them it is OK. So you could mix in some cheaper on-line buys too.

I go to EyeLink (think they are just London and Cambridge), you can either pay the £6pm dd and get check-ups and after-care for no extra cost, plus a discount on the lenses. Or just buy the lenses.
But you buy when you want, you don't have to get them regularly.
Not worth paying the £6pm if you don't wear them regularly though.

asda £111.57 for 90 pairs. That is slightly cheaper.
