No Food or Milk!!!!

DD has had diarrohea for 3 days. I took her to the docs today and she told me not to give her any solids or any milk for 24 hours. Has anyone else had to do this? I'm sure DD will not be too bothered about the lack of solid food as she doesn't appear very hungry anyway. When it comes to missing her milk at bedtime however I think we may see Devils child!!! Any advice on how I can distract her? Poor mite - it's bad enough when you understand why you can't eat for a while.

Panda, that's what I was told too. It just gives their system time to settle down I s'pose. I was told to give ds small quantities (1 or 2 fl oz) of water or very watery milk every couple of hours or maybe just at bedtime. It's not as heavy on her tummy and it may fool her into thinking she's having milk. But if she throws that up then stop everything.

It's so distressing to see them like that and they can't understand why Mummy isn't feeding them, but given 24 hours I'm sure it'll all be back to normal again and she'll be ravenous!!!

Good luck.

my dd had sickness and diarrhoea last year at 8 months old, it lasted 12 days - the longest 12 days of my life ! She drank soya formula which the health visitor said would be ok as it doesn't have the lactose in it which irritates upset tums. Maybe you could try this, if the health visitor agrees ?
