Have got, really bad earache, headache, feel very hot, sore throat and the area below my ear and donw into my throat is sore. I ache as well.
If I go to Doc though, then he mightt sign me off and I will be in so much shit at work they will give me a disciplinary/formal warning for ahving unathorised absence

Being signed off is authorised absence though. What industry are you in?

SaltireOShanter · 16/01/2009 08:10

Retail.
Between November 2007 and May 2008 I had 5 absences. 1 was a day off becasue Ds1 was ill, 1 was becasue I got sent home because I fell at work. 2 days off in December when I had conjunctivitis. Then I had 2 days off (after having been ill all of 1/2 term) with slapped cheek, that was in February. I ahd 2 days off in May with a migrane that started on the Thursday night and was still there on the Monday.
I was given formal warning each time for unathorised absence, and was told "If you are off again for any reason then you will ahve to face a disciplinary".

But surely you are allowed 5 or 7 days off without a sick note ?

Or have you had a lot of time off and work is monitoring you ? Sounds rather bizarre.

Sorry X post

NewAmazingBeginning · 16/01/2009 08:12

How can it be unautorised if the Doctor signs you off?

You are allowed time off sick without a sick note. I assume that you called them to tell them that you weren't going to be in on these occassions ?

SaltireOShanter · 16/01/2009 08:13

Thing is, I don't get how DS1 being ill can be counted. or the fact they sent me home, if they sent me home then how can it be unathorised?

I have been in work with D&V, in June because I was scared to be off. I feel like crap, I really do.

CaptainU - I always call in. Then when I go back I get my "back to work interview". At this I get told that I am not meeting the high standars the employer expects, then the chart comes out, saying this your X absence, so now you need a formal verbal/formal written/disciplinary. Etc.

I don't actually think my absences have been that bad.

Your line mamager if he/she thinks there is a problem shoud be trying to resolve it with occupational health etc .

I dont think it is a partcular bad sick record.

Do you have a union rep you could speak to ?

Sounds pretty crap employers. Is it a well known retail store ?

SaltireOShanter · 16/01/2009 08:44

Yes it's well known. Ironically they sell healthcare products!
